The mind is the key that unlocks the world. Learning to use it properly however is a matter of practice and technique. Marco Polo and Democritus lived approximately 1,700 years apart. They both used their mind to look at the world and try and make sense of it. Sensemaking is important because it allows us to make better predictions about the future. This generates a sense of certainty, it reduces anxiety and helps us better manage our mental and emotional resources.
Using much the same instrument but not the same cognitive skills one saw Unicorns and the other one saw indivisible, fundamental particles of matter and gave us the Atomic Theory.
Which of the two would you rather be?
Use your mind. Unlock the world.
